Created by Google Maps footage, a video that shows a tour around the premise and loads of heavy, heavy clay this is our first little 1:250 model of the site.
Measuring equipment
A huge part of our time within the last three weeks went into figuring out how to properly measure the site. That is quite important because the plans exsiting plans

look like this
or this.
Thus, we contacted some very nice people: Wolfgang and Agnes from the Chair of Geodesy and Geodetic Testing Laboratory at the TUM. They did not only show us how to use professional GPS-measuring equipment, but also lend us a whole suitcase full of electronics worth a few thousand Euros. At least they were back in 1970. 😀

Wish us luck at the customs office!
This blog’s objective
This blog will document our ups and downs while trying to find the best way to build teachers accommodations and a youth hostel on the property of Kangemi Youth Centre.
It will start with our preperations for the initial trip to Nairobi and hopefully one day end with happy students and teachers enjoying their newly built residences. We will try our best to keep you informed on our progress. Our plan is to post daily, while we are in Nairobi and weekly, while actually planning the project in Munich.
